Big Bear Real Estate & Community Information
At an elevation of 7,000 feet, Big Bear Resort is in the heart of the
San Bernardino National Forest about 100 miles from the city of Los
Angeles. Big bear offers a large selection of local lodging and
tourism, as well as recreation and dining experiences for residents and
travelers alike. For those who want to move to this area, there is
plenty of Big Bear real estate to choose from.
Although
Big Bear is a great community to live in—there is a lot of outdoor
recreation and resort living—if you are looking for something more
private or close to Los Angeles, you might also consider the community
of Pine Mountain Club. Both Big Bear and Pine Mountain Club offer alpine-style living and lots of activities, however, Pine Mountain Club is a private community with recreational facilities reserved for residents.
The Big Bear Community
Since being discovered in the 1800s and recognized for its bear population, Big Bear became the site for several Hollywood
films, including “Paint Your Wagon” and “Dr. Doolittle.” It’s very
popular with tourists, and there is lots of local lodging for tourists
from bed and breakfasts to national chain hotels.
Big Bear Real Estate Prices
Big
Bear is a small community with only about 5,000 residents, and real
estate prices range from around $180,000 to over $2M. Some of these are
vacation homes, and you can also find lots of condos and time-shares in
Big Bear and the surrounding area.
If you are looking in that price range but want a more exclusive community, again Pine Mountain Club
comes highly recommended. In fact, some of the home prices are even
lower in Pine Mountain Club, and you can also purchase a mobile home
lot to build your dream home. So it’s possible to live in a private
mountain community for less when you purchase Pine Mountain Club real estate.
Even
though Big Bear is a very popular area for both tourists and those
relocating to the area, it may be a little too busy or “touristy” for
your taste; if so, Pine Mountain Club might be perfect for your family.
Pine Mountain Club real estate is priced very much the same as Big Bear, but offers a quieter atmosphere with private amenities and a clubhouse.
Pine Mountain Club is also closer to both Los Angeles and Santa Barbara.
Where Big Bear is over 100 miles away from the city, Pine Mountain Club
is only an hour’s drive away. So you can have a private community
setting in the mountains, have alpine outdoor activities in your own
backyard, but be near the teeming metropolis and beautiful Southern California beaches.
Pine Mountain
Club homes for sale come with the same opportunities for outdoor
activities as Big Bear, but in a private alpine setting. Because the
clubhouse and other amenities are reserved for residents, you won’t
have to deal with tourist seasons, busy traffic, and cluttered/littered
areas throughout the year. If you want a private lifestyle, great
school systems, and a lot of outdoor living, don’t sign on the dotted
line until you have considered Pine Mountain Club.
