Santa Clarita may be the fourth largest city in Los Angeles County, California,
but it feels and acts much different. It’s the combination of other
local communities that banded together in 1987. This union has helped
Santa Clarita become more attractive to visitors and residents alike as

to the area. In face, Six Flags Magic Mountain is located at the edge of the city boundary and brings thousands of visitors every month.

has ranked Santa Clarita as one of the top 100 places to live, and the
FBI rates it as the sixth safest place to live (with populations over
100,000) in the United States. It is only about 40 miles away from
downtown Los Angeles, but none of the frenetic activity of the city is present in Santa Clarita.
Santa
Clarita is served by several school districts, and they are divided by
communities. Here is a list of those schools and the focus and quality
of each.
Acton-Agua Gulch:
Some schools have been given distinguished ratings, and are concerned
with standard curriculum excellence. In normative testing, Acton-Agua
scores above grade levels between one and four years.
Castaic Union School District: They are highly concerned with using technology in education, involving the community and local businesses.
Newhall:
Consisting solely of elementary schools, Newhall is concerned with
providing support services and safe schools, as well as instilling a
life-long love of learning.
Saugus:
Consisting of 15 K-6 schools, five have been awarded National Blue
Ribbon designations. The Parent Advisory Committee is very active here.
Sulphur Springs: Known for its concern with financial management and serving the child by serving the entire family.
William S. Hart Union High School District:
Includes junior high schools and occupational education. Two schools
have received a distinguished rating, one junior high has received a
national Blue Ribbon, and Bowman High schools was named a California Model Continuation School.

is divided into neighborhoods and communities, all with their own
appeal. There are also lots of new construction neighborhoods and
planned communities in progress. Here are a few of the communities and
what to expect.
Valencia. This is a new town that has been in progress for over 30 years, and is nestled in the mountains.
Stevenson Ranch lies in the Santa Susanna foothills and is a master planned neighborhood with over 4,000 acres.
Newhall is the historic district of Santa Clarita, and was originally a mineral and oil town.
Saugus, originally a railroad community, rolls along with the local hills. Boasts some of the areas award winning schools.
In
general, prices in the Santa Clarita area average around $550,000, with
a range of $210,000 to almost $6 million. There is a wide variety of
styles available, including historic homes and new construction. Santa
Clarita also has the advantage of being close to city life in Los Angeles, the Magic Mountain amusement park, and nearby alpine communities like Pine Mountain Club.
